The EOU scheme is introduced in the early 1981 ,the scheme is laid down in the Export and Import (EXIM) Policy issued by the Ministry of Commerce. The Export Oriented Units (EOU) Scheme remains today in the forefront of he country's Export initiative. The Manufactures Exporters must be treated as a special class in these scheme and given all required infrastructure and policy backing by the government.

This is a multi-faceted scheme and it's components rest on the commitments from various other authorities, Central and State government. The scheme package made available to the exporting community for facilitating their performance.

The EOU scheme envisages the establishment of units anywhere in the country. Units have got certain concession to enable them to meet the rigors of foreign demand in terms of pricing. quality precession etc.

Over the last decade, Export Oriented Units have evolved as a major player in the country's export effort.
