As the EHTP scheme is an offshoot of the EOU scheme, in general terms all the provision of EXIM policy, as contain in which are applicable to the EOU's apply to the EHTP scheme, unless specifically mention to the contrary. However, an important departure from the EOU scheme is that the EHTP units are not subjected to a minimum net foreign exchange earning norm.
	Whereas the Scheme primarily meant for manufacture and export of software and hardware in an integrated manner. However units engaged exclusively in manufacture of software are not permitted under this scheme.
	In contrast to the STP units, the EHTP units must work under supervision of the customs staff posted on the cost recovery basic.
	Administration of the scheme is with the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, New Delhi Which shall consider applications for settings up units under the sheme.
