The concept paper on the Electronic Hardware Technology Park ( EHTP ) prepared by the Ministry of Information Technology in 1991 for discussion by the Steering Committee and the Cabinet Committee on the Economic affairs stated that the electronics has to be seen as a mega resource sector for the all round development of the economy by improving productivity and quality of goods and services .It recognized that electronics is technology intensive and to compete internationally the electronic component must become available cheaply within the country.

EHTP Scheme :-

The EHTP Scheme has been design on the lies of the EOU Scheme. It started with effect from 14.9.1992 and envisaged the setting up of an EHTP by the central Government, State Government, public or private sector undertaking or any combination thereof
